I also just install vista sp1 through windows updat but that didn't seem to resolve anything. Before I contact tech support again, anyone has any idea why I am having this problems? All my DVDs are bought from blockbusters "pre-viewed" They played fine on my laptop with windows xp o.s running a system repair on startup programs was also done. Following their advice I tried disable all start up program and ms services under msconfig. The only dvds that I don't have any problem so far is movies for kids like ratatouille. Some would play fine but if i click "stop" or any other buttons, it would also freezes the system. When I put in a DVD, some would play for a few minutes, and some with freeze one I hit "play" on window media player. On the window, to perform this video off-on cycling.I just bought an inspiron 530 desktop, intel core 2 quad q6600, window Vista home premium 32-bit, 2 GB ram Since i got a 24 inch monitor with it I thought I can enjoy a few movies with my new computer. Or allow /tools/Customize window./ to place a "video-reset" button When "slower" button is clicked, and have it restart the video-playback itself.Īnother solution would be to put a "video-reset" button on the window When high definition videos of large sizes are opened in VLC Media Playerthe HD video doesn’t play perfectly at all times. To recognize when playback has been stopped or paused, or This is tedious to do and it would be preferable for the playback engine The workaround I use to reset video is to cycle To run /Windows 7 64/Windows Media Center/ Most modern cpu/gpu combos can handle 31.25x video,īut this continues to be a problem for the older cpus needed Seems to drop updates to video and video-freeze, while audio Of course, speeding up playback increases the workload on the cpu,Īnd the higher the multiple can reach the point where the playback engine Using the "faster" button, which maxes out at 31.25x currently. Speeding through playback of recorded tv on a slower laptop, The only time I see video-freeze while audio continues, is when I am Yeah, it's a real dumb solution, but it might just be yours. I had been running the 32bit VLC on that machine for years unaware because everything prior to h265 played fine. Once I installed that, everything was golden, no stutter. So I double-checked that my OS was 64bit, uninstalled 32bit VLC along with its preferences, and then installed 64bit. I was just about to try the nightly build when I discovered what turned out to be my issue. And just to note, neither my cpu nor gpu broke the slightest sweat during any of it. No matter what settings I tried, disabling acceleration, trying different output settings, and basically any other thing I read looking into this. When I was seeing this issue, I just figured my computer was too old to handle h265 and put it out of mind until I played a h265 on a crummier computer with integrated graphics and it played fine. (But not for 4k video, it only helped with 1080p h265) Nothing seemed to work, but I finally found my answer. P.P.S.: Same Stream decodes on VLC for android flawlessly so it is a Windows only Problem. : When the picture freezes after a few frames (HW acceleration enabled), i can see in the Taskmanager there is no decoding going on the GPU. I changed for my daily use to Media Player Classic, which decodes it via HW at nearly 0% CPU usage. This issue seems only with HEVC, others codecs seem to work well with hardware acceleration. So i guess it is somewhere on the way to the screen ourput that this issue happens. Interestingly a stand alone FFMPEG decodes the same stream with no issue. If you disable Hardware Acceleration in the FFMPEG section of the preferences it will work in newer builds as well, but basically with high CPU usage of course. Problem persists up to the latest nightly build. I have been having this issue with vlc for years actually as I stream HEVC Full HD 24/7.īasically the last version that worked for me was VLC 2.2.8, which basically decodes HEVC using CPU and not Hardware accelerated.
